Book publisher Doubleday has announced that Dan Brown’s new novel called ‘Inferno’ will be out in May. The subject of the book is Dante and will once again feature Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon. Langdon was the protagonist for Brown’s blockbuster ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and the follow-up ‘The Lost Symbol’.
Brown informed the media that he came to appreciate the influence of Dante’s work on the modern world while researching in Florence. The author once again takes on a masterpiece of Western Civilization. ‘The Da Vinci Code’ centered on an iconic painting, the Mona Lisa.
Brown is likely to return to the religious controversies of ’The Da Vinci Code’ when he angered Catholics by suggesting that Jesus and Mary Magdalene had children. ‘Inferno’ will be released on May 14. Dante himself was a Catholic and was critical of church leaders.
