NRT to pull out of A Division League

New Road Team (NRT), one of the oldest football club in the country, has announced that it will pull out of the A Division League due to financial problems. A special general meeting of the club decided to drop out from the league due to huge debt. 34 members out of the 43 general members voted to discontinue the club’s football activities whereas 9 members voted against it.

According to NRT officials, the club has loans of Rs 14 million and have been paying interest of Rs 2 million annually to Himalayan Bank.  NRT is one of the richest football clubs in the nation with four ropanis of land and buildings in the heart of the city.

NRT finished fifth in this year’s Red Bull A Division Football League. The club was established in 1934.  NRT plans to join the A Division League after sorting out its financial matters.
