CBI Court sends Lalu Prasad Yadav to jail for fodder scam

Former Indian minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has been sent to jail by a special CBI court in India. Yadav was convicted in the fodder scam case. The 65-year-old former Chief Minister and Railways minister was taken to the Birsa Munda Central Jail after the court verdict.

The court has fixed October 3 for pronouncement of sentence against Yadav. The former Chief Minister of Bihar appeared calm and did not take any question as his vehicle sped away to the jail. The jail is located on the outskirts of Ranchi. The court has also sentenced other state politicians for their involvement in the scam.

Yadav had arrived in the court by a Ambassador car and appeared relaxed. He waved to his party supporters and was seen smiling. Yadav was accused of embezzling more than 37.7 crores Indian Rupees in the fodder scam.
