CIAA arrests Executive director of Nepal Oil Corporation

According to media reports, the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Suresh Kumar Agrawal and three other officials of Nepal Oil Corporation. Agrawal is the officiating Executive Director of the state-owned corporation. 

The four accused have been charged with irregularities while doling out profit bonus to NOC employees. The CIAA has taken Agrawal, director Nagendra Shah, Netra Kafle and Pawan Prasad Sharma into custody for further investigation. The CIAA had earlier ordered NOC not to provide bonus to its employees unless it generates net profit.

NOC is the sole fuel provider in the country and has debts totaling more than Rs 22 billion. It incurs losses of hundreds of millions of Rupees every month but its employees receive bonuses every year.
