Manchester City thrashes United 4-1 in derby match

Manchester City thrashed Manchester United 4-1 in a derby match in the English Premier League. City was playing at home and was up by 2-0 in the first half. Sergio Aguero scored twice and Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri added the other goals for City. It was a first Manchester derby for both managers Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes.

Aguero scored in the 16th minute and Yaya Toure added another in the 45th minute of the game.  United was missing Robin van Persie due to injury and was not able to counter the aggressive attacks from City. Within five minutes into the second half, City was up by 4-0 and Wayne Rooney scored the consolation goal for United.

Arsenal went top of the league table with a 3-1 win over Stoke City whereas Tottenham Hotspur defeated Cardiff City 1-0 in the other matches. Arsenal leads the league table on goal difference over Hotspur, both with 12 points.
