Nepal Telecom to provide free Wi-Fi service in public places for three months

The state-owned telecom operator, Nepal Telecom (NT) has announced that it will provide free Wi-Fi service in six public places in the valley for three months. NT has set up Wi-Fi hotspots based on Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) technology in six different places.

NT is also planning to offer Wi-Fi for hourly use for customers. It is currently preparing tariff for the service. Customers will be allowed to buy vouchers to use the Wi-Fi service on an hourly basis. NT plans to finalize the tariff in two weeks.

NT will provide free Wi-Fi service at Tribhuwan International Airport, Bir Hospital, Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital, Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center and different offices of NT for three months.  NT also plans to install Wi-Fi hotspots in all domestic airports and its regional offices in the future..
